Dear all thankyou for signing for Catworth FC for the 2011/12 season. This page aims to inform you of the clubs ambitions for the future, and how you can be a part of it. Last couple of seasons, the decision was made to try and expand the club from a village club,to a comunity club-giving all the local villages a chance to be involved on and off the field,The club has used this website, leaflets, local papers and newsletters to spread the word over the season. During the 2009/10 season we attracted 45 players and comittee members as well as generous donations from local businesses and individuals. On the field, the team finished mid table and got to a cup semi-final.The club also had social nights out in Catworth,Grafham and leighton Bromswald. The club was also invited to take part in the Bill Harvey memorial trophy at london Rd home of peterborough Utd-though cup comitements meant that we had to decline the offer.Wev attended the AGM of a local colts club and saturday teams with the aim of proposing the amalgamation of the three clubs into one community club similar to sawtry and Alconbury, awaiting replies.2010/11 season see us get new kit and benchwear sponsorship,on top of match ball sponsors and various others. We attracted a 35 man squad including committee members,on the field wasnt as rewarding as we would have liked, but produced more good points than bad. After training/games drinks see us frequent the Public houses in Ellington,Spaldwick,Leighton Bromswald,Old Weston,We enjoyed social nights in Kimbolton and Catworth.WE apologise to those village Phs we didnt manage to get to,and hope to make that up to you this coming season.Giving something back to the comunity, like we said we would!
Good turnouts at training, games and social events is really important and promotes a good impression to local residents. All these we'll have to improve on,always looking for ways to improve relations with the comunity. This website provides information for people looking to support the club.Any enquires can also be directed to Andy(club secretary). The club would also like all signed on players to get player soponsorship from work, family or friends before the end of this season (thankyou to those who have).Advertising boards can be put up at home games so if your work or any local businesses would like this opotunity, just get in touch. The club always appreciates donations of money or time from everyone and they are vital for an ambitious club like Catworth.Any help with equipment for games or training(eg cones or footballs)would be very helpful. Thanks to volunteers and people hearing about the club through our leaflets, the club now have support with first aid Bob Bragg, linesman Sean Mathews and massage lady lindsay lister.
As already mentioned, the club want players to attend as many games, training sessions and social events as possible. With this in mind, like seasons gone by,players appearences in the above areas are noted down. The 14 players with the most appearences were picked for the first league game back in September. After the first game, when players cant make the next match, their places are taken by the players that were previously on the bench, then the players that were not involved-starting again with the player with the most appearences. This may change because of injury or my choice, but this principle will be followed as much as possilble through the season as seen.Team selection is made after training to allow me to Acess injuries and check availability for sundays games.
Training starts on Sunday 31st July,1030 at victory fields Catworth, then Thursday nights 7pm from then on.When darker nights creep in,Catworths floodlight astro-turf comes into operation, costing £19 for 730-9pm,players pay £2 per session.
